A Time of Enrichment!
Be-ing Great in 2008!
Do you know the story of how Unity and the prayer ministry, Silent Unity, began? On April 15, 1890 Myrtle and Charles Fillmore, co-founders of Unity opened a space for people from all around the world to come together, at a set time, for “silent soul communion” and prayer! To give you a brief review from Myrtle Fillmore, Mother of Unity by Thomas E. Witherspoon “Silent Unity came into existence because the Fillmore’s believed without reservation in the existence of an omnipresent God. They reasoned that if it is true that God is omnipresent, then it would not be necessary for persons making prayer requests to be in the presence of those doing the praying.” (page 88) And, “…The Fillmore’s never intended to start a church, but to provide a place for religious and spiritual education for all people, regardless of their creed…” (page 61). The beginning of Unity is an amazing story, I feel rejuvenated, and my soul revived whenever I have the opportunity to revisit it!
It is with this beginning in mind that we have opened a space here at Light & Love Ministries for a new beginning, an extension of what we are all about! What has emerged through my prayer time is to invite you, dear friend, to join us in a time of enrichment. Similar to the invitation that Myrtle and Charles extended to those who desired another way to align themselves with prayer so many years ago, we envision this to be a time of sharing, discussion, meditation and fellowship. Webster’s Dictionary defines enrichment as “an act of making fuller or more meaningful or rewarding,” and that is the intent of this time together, not to take away from any one’s spiritual practice, but only to add to the fullness of it.
Once a month, we invite you to join us, wherever you may be, in person here in our home offices, if you are local, or if you are in a remote location, we ask you to join us in prayerful consciousness. Dates and times for the Enrichment Circle times are listed below. Our plan is to have a handout and the meditation from our time together for you to download from this web page.
